Commissioning Guide
Before specifying a compression molding machine price, resolve where platen temperature uniformity will be measured and which cooling utilities support the complete repeated molding cycle. A press figure that omits heated platens, in-platen or in-mold cooling, freight, installation and SAT labor is not comparable with a turnkey cell. This guide is a procurement dossier for document comparison. It is not an engineering stamp or a promise that SAT will pass on the first visit. No percentage saving versus a market average is published.
Decision dossier
Line up each quotation against material family, projected loaded mold area, requested clamp force at that area, platen size in inches, and whether the production mold or an agreed representative tool will be used. Ask every bidder to price the complete repeated cycle, including charge and cool. If one reply quotes heat-up only, mark that row as unmatched rather than averaging times.
Record cooling-water supply temperature, flow and pressure the package assumes, plus compressed air, connected load, three-phase supply, footprint and PLC interface. Confirm where platen temperature uniformity will be measured: center, corners, or in-mold sensors. If cooling water cannot meet the assumed duty, the quoted cycle is not demonstrated. Installation piping, foundations and training hours should be marked included or excluded on the same comparison sheet.
Agree measurement locations for platen and process temperature, and record dimensions after the named conditioning period on the SAT sheet. Identify spare heaters, seals and who owns recipe changes after handover. One catalog ISO statement does not cover this project’s FAT.
